RE: Worn out Reese head!

I have the same set up on mine. When I first got it I broke one of the little retaining tabs off of the top, during one of the first few trips. I took it back to the dealer and he said that the hitch angle was set wrong. We'll since he realized that I bought everything from them and they did the set up they replaced the hitch for no cost. So, not sure if the hitch ball angle is your problem, but it might be something to look at when you replace the hitch.

RE: weight distributing bars

I have about a 700 lb tounge weight and I am using 1000 lb bars. They seem to work just fine for me. I have a friction sway bar and it works fine too. I actually forgot the sway bar one time and ended up driving all the way from Los angeles to Utah and back without it. I never had any problems without it either. I was however prepared to have to park it if the winds picked up.

RE: slide outs

Our Springdale has a large slide with dinnette and couch. It comes out about 3 feet. So when it is in it is very hard to move around. I have to either leave the bathroom door open whe we travel or we have to move the slide out about 12" to open the door. Not that big of a deal when you consider the extra square footage with it open. I would look for more room and slides on our next one.

RE: slide outs

If you plan on doing any long term camping like a month or so, the slide sure keeps the tt from getting small over time.
Also being able to avoid bumping into dw while she is cooking is a big plus.
But that would give you the chance to give the cook a goose. ;)

RE: Running lights quit working

It sounds like a loose wire of maybe a rusted or corroded contact on the plug. Do the brake lights work?

RE: Springdale 267 starting to show some wear

This week will be our first anniversary with our Springdale. We just finished our 16th trip including a 10 day trip to Utah and a week long stay at the beach. I would have to say that it still looks show room new. The only problem we have had was the spring and clearance issue that was resolved by MTrv. Other than that we love it.
My only issue, which really isn't, is that when we bought the TT we were towing it with an SUV. But shortly realized we needed more power. So we bought a big truck. So now I am thinking I could have something much bigger to tow behind it.
We love our Springdale.

Flag Poles (where to buy)

Where is the best place to buy these 20' retractable flag poles that you see all over the place. I'm looking for one that can hold two flags and also the mounts that either bolt to the ladder or rear bumper.
Thanks,

RE: Tar removal (sheesh, it had to be me)

WD-40 is the best. It's great for so many things. It even takes tree sap off the dog.

I'm Camping in Pismo

At the Pismo Coast resort. Nice place, but it sure is a busy campground. People pull out and the spot is filled again in a matter of hours. It is a nice place to visit and the beach is really close.

RE: Lost A Window While Driving!

I've often wondered about having to escape out one of those. The only real way out is going to be head first and most of these things are a good 6 feet off the ground nearly 8 on the top bunk window. This escape is going to hurt and would have to be an ultimate last resort.
I'm tying mine shut now too. I'd be more worried about it hitting another vehicle and hurting someone than anything else.

RE: Slide Out Not Retracting

Are your batteries charged up? If not plug it in.
If that doesn't work, I think you can down load the manual on Lippert's web site and it should have some trouble shooting tips.
That's all I have for you, good luck.

RE: Warranty work Rant

It's home!
We picked it up yesterday. Everything is fixed. I have almost 4 inches of clearance now instead of one inch. They removed the flattened 1750# springs and replaced them with 4 new 2000# spings. It sits very nice and I'm happy. I did have to re set the hitch level. The slide out has been adjusted so it pulls in straight. It was found that the water pump wasn't bolted to the floor and the toilet valve had to be replaced because the bowl would not hold water.
So, here is the last *****.
I crawled under it to look at the work that was done and I actually found 2 bolts on the leafs that had not been tightened. Un-believable! But I'm done with it. I spent some time underneath and re torqued everything they could have possibly touched.
I think we need to put this thread to rest. AND GO CAMPING!!!!!!!
I'm packing it up for a trip to Joshua Tree on Friday.
Thanks to all for your input.

I have to agree. I absolutely, do not like attorneys, but I have one. And I have used him for time to time to, say, write a letter on my behalf to get the job done. It does seem to get their attention.

RE: Warranty work Rant

OK
This has all been interesting reading.
Here is my outcome. They have removed all four springs. The diagnosis is that they are all defective. Maybe a bad batch.
THey springs have been replaced with new 2000# springs. The originals were supposed to be 1750#. They have also repaired the burn marks from the tires in the underbelly fabric. They have also installed a peice of sheet metal above the tires on the driver side; there was only fabric there before. The sheet metal was at my request to hopefully prevent damage in the event of a tire problem.
So if all goes well, I am supposed to pick it up tomorrow morning. Anything you can think of that I should be looking for?
Thanks for everything,
Reb

RE: Warranty work Rant

I just got off the phone with the service manager this time. He has told me that they are authorizing to replace the springs, all 4. They are also going to get them locally and not have to wait for replacements to be ground shipped from Oregon or Indiana. THey were supposed to pull one off and take it to the spring shop to have it matched today. I told them that I expected a follow up call this evening to let me know the progress. The manager said that if everything goes as he expects there is a good chance that I could pick it up on Saturday.
I will keep you posted.
